Mewtwo from Pokémon will soon be a playable character in "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, game director Masahiro Sakurai said.

During a recently concluded event in Japan, Sakurai revealed that the game developers are almost done creating the "Mewtwo" DLC for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, which means that it won't take long now before players can start using the powerful psychic Pokémon.

Mewtwo is one of the famous Pokémon characters that fans have been requesting to be included in the "Super Smash Bros." game. For this reason, players got very excited when Sakurai announced last October that the character will indeed appear in the game. However, information about it dwindled after the first announcement, until the game director talked about the "Mewtwo" DLC during the said event.

"So with regards to my announcement-ish announcement, it isn't anything to do with something new I'm working on; it's nothing like that," Sakurai's translated statement claims. "Rather, it's about the release of the Mewtwo DLC character, which we may have made the fans quite worried about."

The game director is still mum about the official release date of the "Mewtwo" DLC, but CinemaBlend reported that the downloadable content might be available starting spring.

"Super Smash Bros." players who own either the 3DS or the Wii U version will be able to avail the "Mewtwo" DLC without having to pay for it. However, Nintendo later confirmed that Mewtwo will later on be available as a paid downloadable content if players only possess a single copy of the game.

Still, the game developer is still keeping the download details a secret for now. There are also no other announcements provided by the company regarding the "Mewtwo" DLC release in the U.S. or international markets.
