Finally, the release date in North America and the full roster for the much-awaited game "Super Smash Bros 4" had been revealed.

After unveiling the 3DS edition of the game in Japan last Sept. 13, Nintendo had been revealing more information about the characters that will be included in the new "Super Smash Bros" prior to its scheduled release in the U.S. Some of details mentioned include the characters' full capabilities, game stages, as well as the possible additional DLC materials.

Examiner pointed out that the upcoming Nintendo game will feature a total of 49 characters that can be customized with different looks.

On the other hand, Nintendo Everything listed down the characters that will be featured in both the 3DS and the Wii U editions of the game, including:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Bowser
  • Yoshi
  • Rosalina & Luma

It is noticeable that several characters that were featured in the past installments of the "Super Smash Bros" series are not present in the new game, including the fan favorite "Ice Climbers" duo named Popo and Nana.

A post from Operation Rainfall reported the interview of Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai for the Famitsu magazine, wherein he explained why the Ice Climbers were omitted in the new game.  Sakurai said that both Popo and Nana were included in the initial version of the Wii U edition, yet they were removed from the final version after the developers failed to include them in the 3DS edition "due to the required hardware power."

Aside from the Oct. 3 release date for the game's 3DS edition, Nintendo also announced that the "Super Smash Bros 4" Wii U edition will be released during the Holiday 2014 season.
