'Super Smash Bros 4' Character DLC roster update: Shantae rumored to be added?

While Nintendo is gearing up to launch a very important update for "Super Smash Bros. 4" for both Wii U and 3DS, fans are busy guessing which character is going to be included in the game next.  Reports are claiming that the next one likely to be included is Shantae, a character from the platform adventure game of the same name.

iDigitalTimes reported that an IMDb entry for "Super Smash Bros." included the name of Shantae voice actress Cristina Valenzuela in the list of actors who worked on the game.

This stemmed from Valenzuela's tweet saying that IMDb requested her to add the missing credits on her previous jobs. Some who checked her page reportedly saw that "Super Smash Bros" for Wii U was included in the list of her acting credits. However, she denied having included the entry herself.

She tweeted, "... nope, I didn't add that credit nor have I heard anything about Shantae in smash. Removing it now."

"Shantae" was first released by Capcom in 2002 in Game Boy Color, then re-released it in a Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console back in 2013. A fourth installment in the game series is currently in the works, which will also feature the original voice actress.

The entry posted in IMDb fueled speculations that Shantae will also join "Super Smash Bros." in its future character expansion. However, Nintendo has not confirmed this information. Currently, the company has already released four character DLCs for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS, including "Pokemon's" Mewtwo, "Mother 3's" Lucas, Roy from "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade," and "Street Fighter's" Ryu.

Other characters are expected to be added in the game in the coming months, and fans can nominate which one through a special ballot in Nintendo's official web site until Oct. 3.

But for Friday's release, Nintendo will be releasing a free update that will include the highly-awaited Tourney Mode for its Wii U version.
