'Super Mario Maker' patch version 1.30 features revealed

 Nintendo

After announcing a slew of new updates for "Super Mario Maker," Nintendo has officially released Captain Toad on Christmas day.

The new character, taken from the 2014-released action puzzle video game "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker," is a special version of Princess Peach's loyal assistant. He is also known as one of the bravest characters in the "Super Mario" franchise.

But before Captain Toad was introduced in the side-scrolling platform game creation system, Nintendo released the newest patch update for "Super Mario Maker."

The latest patch update known as version 1.30 includes:

  • Ability to add objects like Fire Koopa Clown Car
  • Connection to the Super Mario Maker Bookmark portal site link that could allow a highly detailed course search.
  • Ranking of the fastest player to clear the course and the first player to clear the course allotted for each course.
  • More improvements were included for a better gaming experience

The Super Mario Maker Bookmark web portal allows all players to arrange all the uploaded "Super Mario Maker" courses in a lot of different categories. It includes arranging each course according to difficulty, course theme, and game style, among others.

Players can use the portal site to bookmark a specific course, then it will appear in their Bookmarks tab while playing the "Super Mario Maker" game.

A variety of new tools and features also appeared in the game starting Dec. 22. One of them is the bumper that appears when players shake a Grinder. This allow players to get knocked around in different ways. A P Warp Door is also introduced when players hold and share the game's ordinary Warp Door.

"Super Mario Maker" was lauded as the Best Family Game at The Game Awards 2015.
