Super Bowl 2018: NSYNC reunion at halftime show? Joey Fatone says it is possible

After news of Justin Timberlake possibly headlining the Super Bowl 2018 halftime show surfaced, many fans wondered if he would be doing it alone. That might not be the case because recent rumors claim some familiar faces could join him on the stage, and they could very well be the members of his old boy band, NSYNC.

Talks of an NSYNC reunion started when former band member Joey Fatone dropped a hint in a recent interview with TMZ. When asked if he is interested in performing with Timberlake and the gang in Minneapolis, the singer said:

"It's one of those things like with the MTV [Video Music] Awards. If it's right, we do it. If everybody can't do it, then we don't do it. It's pretty simple."

It has already been 15 years since the band went on hiatus. They reunited at the MTV VMAs in 2013 when Timberlake was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, performing some of their hit songs like "Bye Bye Bye."

Whether or not a reunion is happening is still up in the air. While JT's involvement is yet to be confirmed as well, fans can still be hopeful. After all, Beyonce did bring Destiny's Child with her during her halftime show in 2013. But as Fatone mentioned, "hopefully there's no nip slip this time."

The comment was in reference to the "Mirror" hitmaker's infamous wardrobe malfunction during his 2004 Super Bowl performance with Janet Jackson. On live TV, US Magazine recalled that Timberlake pulled Jackson's outfit as he sung a sensual lyric while performing his hit "Rock Your Body," briefly revealing her pierced nipple and right breast.

Still, even if the rumored NSYNC reunion will not happen in Super Bowl 2018, fans will still see them together soon. Co-member Lance Bass told InStyle last month they planned to reunite when they get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are still planning at the moment, but he said it will be really fun.

Jay-Z was also in talks to headline next year's halftime show as of August this year, but he reportedly turned down the offer. This leaves Timberlake the frontrunner, although the National Football League (NFL) refused to address the rumors.

The Super Bowl LII is scheduled to be held on Feb. 4, 2018, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
