'Suits' season 7 spoilers: After Mike's troubles in previous season, series to feature Harvey's struggles

While "Suits" season 6 cast the spotlight on Mike and his troubles, it is Harvey's time to be in hot water on the next season of the legal procedural drama. The USA Network

While Mike Ross' (Patrick J. Adams) life is expected to be on the upswing on the next season of "Suits," the same thing cannot be said about Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) as it is said that the upcoming installment of the procedural legal drama series will have him contend with troubles in more ways than one.

To recall, the season 6 finale of "Suits" featured Mike finally being a certified lawyer after Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) saved the day as she appealed to the panel to make the former convict a lawyer despite his past crime. As Mike is now a certified lawyer, things are expected to be a lot better for him in "Suits" season 7.

While "Suits" season 6 basically focused on Mike's struggles, including his stay in prison, reports suggest it is Harvey's turn to be in hot water in the upcoming season 7. Reportedly, Harvey will have to deal with a lot of troubles in the upcoming season of the series, including finding himself challenging an old friend in court.

According to reports, "Suits" season 7 is ushering in Dule Hill to play the role of Alex Williams, Harvey's longtime friend and a senior partner of Bratton Gould, a rival of Pearson Specter Litt. With Alex now part of the legal procedural drama series, it is said that fans can expect the two challenging each other as they meet in the courtroom.

However, it is said that Harvey's biggest challenge in "Suits" season 7 will involve running Pearson Specter Litt. Now that Jessica has left the law firm, Harvey will have to deal with the ins and outs of the office without the guidance that he needs.

"It's a new role. Harvey has always been a freestyler, he's been number 2. He's always had Jessica and the ultimate responsibility of running the firm and keeping it together, which gave Harvey a lot of freedom to behave a certain way... Is he going to be worried that he can't fill her shoes? Because Jessica was a huge force and presence in his life so that's all going to play out throughout the course of Season 7," reveals "Suits" executive producer Aaron Korsh in an interview with Deadline earlier this year.

Will Harvey and Alex really attempt to outdo each other's law expertise in court? How will this affect Harvey? Can he cope with the new responsibilities that come with running Pearson Specter Litt?

Find out when "Suits" returns to the USA Network this July 12.
