'Stranger Things' Season 3 release date, spoilers: Netflix series to go in a different path with 'new evil'

The Netflix premiere of "Stranger Things" season 3 might be far away, but details regarding the new plot of the sci-fi thriller series are already out. As per the latest reports, the show is going in a different path with the possible introduction of a new villain. There is no certainty if the viewers have already seen the last of the demigorgons and the Upside Down, but the series' executive producer teased that a "new evil" will shake things down the road.

In an interview with Glamour, "Stranger Things" executive producer Shawn Levy talked about the changes that the fans should expect in season 3. While it has been hinted that the release of the third season is expected in 2019, details about the story and number of episodes are already laid out.

"The number of episodes will be dictated by the amount of story that excites us. We now know what is going to happen in Season 3 to every character," Levy said, as he revealed that the number of episodes for the new season would be around "eight or nine."

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview with Levy is the new forces of evil that are set to wreak havoc in Hawkins. The executive producer said that "Stranger Things" season 3 will be going to a different direction. The big change will begin with Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), who has been the center of conflict for the past two seasons. This time around, the character is said to have "a break."

"We're going to give Will a break," Levy stated. "We're not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He'll be dealing with stuff, but he won't be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play."

As reported by GameSpot, "Stranger Things" co-creator Ross Duffer already gave hints last year that season 3 is going to take a different path in order to move the story forward. The fans would like to see a fresh start with the characters after every season. Duffer believes that showing the same bad things happening once a year is unjustifiable.

There are rumors that the new focus of supernatural occurrences in "Stranger Things" season 3 will be Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) or Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour), who were both sprayed with unknown gas in the Upside Down. It is possible that one, or both, of these characters will experience what Will had gone through in season 2. However, Levy teased that the fan theories at this early might "end up being wrong."
