It has been some time since Cartoon Network released a new episode of "Steven Universe," and fans are already looking forward to seeing the next exciting adventures of Steven and the Crystal Gems in the remaining episodes of season 2.
Spoilers claim that the Crystal Gems will have a new member when the animated series returns, after Cartoon Network released a teaser for a future episode titled "Barn Mates," where Peridot gives Lapis Lazuli a peace offering.
Fans of the show know that Lapis Lazuli and the Crystal Gems have a bad history together. They even fought against each other during the first Homeworld War. But she sacrificed her own freedom to help imprison the powerful but very violent Jasper at the bottom of the ocean when they fused to become Crystal Gem's monstrous enemy named Malachite.
The details of how Lapis Lazuli managed to detach herself from Jasper are not shown in the trailer. It would also be interesting to see how the Crystal Gems will interact with their former foe in the future episodes of the series.
However, the trailer proves that both Lapis Lazuli and Peridot care for Steven, since he can be seen urging the former Homeworld Gem to give the present to Lapis Lazuli. Will Steven also pave the way for them to be friends?
Because of Lapis Lazuli's return, reports claim that fans could be speculating whether Jasper will also be back in the next episodes of "Steven Universe" season 2. This may not be far from happening, since Lapis Lazuli has to disengage from Jasper first to be able to get out of the bottom of the sea.
This is not the first time that "Steven Universe" has gone into a very long hiatus. The season began in March, then it took a break during the entire month of May before resuming in June. Then the series had another month-long break in August until it returned in September and went on until October. The series did not return until January 2016, when the network released five fresh episodes everyday from Jan. 4 up to Jan. 8.
The network has yet to announce the release date of the new episodes of "Steven Universe" season 2.
