Robert Pattinson had a lot to say about his "Twilight" character Edward Cullen, book author Stephanie Meyer has said.
During the 2015 New York Comic Con earlier this month that also coincided with the 10<sup>th anniversary of the phenomenal serial novels, Meyer revealed that the British actor showed that he was extremely interested in his blood-sucking character.
"He was very, very passionate about the character," Meyer described Pattinson. "Very intense."
She also revealed that there even came a point that the author and the actor had an intense discussion regarding Edward's personality, saying that they would talk about the character for a very long time "because he was convinced that Edward was depressed and suicidal!"
Pattinson is known for being vocal about his beliefs. Just recently, the actor revealed in an interview with NME his disgust with the racist remarks constantly received by his fiancée FKA Twigs.
"I was talking to my dad about this and I bet him that if he looked up Nelson Mandela's funeral on YouTube, the first comment would be a racist one. And it was, with like a million upvotes," the 29-year-old actor shared.
"What I don't get is why. I think it's because most normal people are not commenters – I've never met anyone who's left a comment on anything. It's just demons who live in basements. You have this weird thing where you end up trying to fight against this faceless blob, where the more you hate it, the bigger it gets, because it's all in your head."
After his stint as Edward Cullen, Pattinson revealed that he is now looking for new characters that will be entirely different from the drop-dead rich vampire that he became synonymous with. According to the actor, he would rather emulate Viggo Mortensen's or Joaquin Phoenix's careers, since "they're actors who approach things in a very honest and pure way."
Pattinson recently appeared in the biographical drama movie "Life," where he portrayed the role of James Dean's close friend and renowned documentary photographer Dennis Stock. The movie will be theatrically released in the US on Dec. 4.
