Steam sale 2018 news: Lunar New Year sale leaked?

There is always one thing about Steam that many people are always eager to know about: Steam sale dates. Whenever Steam gives a Winter Sale, people would always expect a Lunar New Year Sale in the next few months. However, it did not happen last year, so it is not expected to happen this year either. That said, a recent leak says that it will definitely come this year.

The leak first came from a tweet from Steam Database. "The next @steam_games sale is Lunar New Year Sale and will run from February 15th to 19th," reads the tweet. "Thanks to Steam Direct, it now takes less than 5 hours for that information to leak."

Sales usually last a week, as previously seen during last year's Halloween and Autumn sales, both of which lasted one week. For the Lunar New Year to only last a few days may seem quite odd, but a sale is a sale. Besides, the five days of sale is not quite far off from the usual seven days.

Steam Database is not actually an official Twitter account to get new about Steam sales. However, VG247 notes that this is not the first they have given correct details about another sale that previously happened. Those who have been closely following Steam sale leaks would know that these leaks are quite normal.

In most cases, these leaks would most likely end up being true. What has not been leaked, like in previous leaks as well, are the games that will go on sale and up to how much discount players can get. With the Lunar New Year Sale only lasting a few days, the promos and discounts may not be as big as those in the past week-long sales.

On the other hand, because of its short duration, others can say that they may be offering bigger discounts as a sort of limited time offer. As for now, Steam has yet to officially announce their Lunar New Year sale, so fans should take the rumors with a grain of salt.
