'State of Decay 2' to come without microtransactions on PC and Xbox One

New zombie-survival game "State of Decay 2," the latest installment in Microsoft's undead franchise, will not be entertaining the idea of microtransactions.  Instead, the new game will come without the said feature.

Such might come as a surprise to fans of the franchise, as one notable aspect of the modern gaming industry is the integration of microtransactions in-game. Be it skins, items, weapons, and DLC expansion packs, it cannot be denied that this particular trait has taken over most games in the industry from mobile to PC, and from one console to another.

According to an interview with IGN, Jeff Strain, studio head of Undead Labs, revealed that the new title in the "State of Decay" franchise will come sans microtransactions. Aside from the confirmation, no other detail has been shared as to why the studio elected to disregard the feature all together.

GameSpot argues that this move might have something to do with the recent controversy regarding the business practice, which some has depicted as an "exploitative scheme."

Despite of this announcement, Undead Labs is not ruling out microtransactions in the future as DLC expansions is likely to be dropped for the game after it officially launches.

"State of Decay 2" is set for a release on May 22 exclusively for Microsoft platforms — Windows and the Xbox One. It comes in two editions, the standard which costs $30 and the ultimate edition which is valued at $50.

"State of Decay 2" will see players battle it out once again with the tremendous tide of the mindless undead. It comes with a multiplayer feature which enables users to help each other survive in-game by building communities and bases impregnable to zombie attacks.
