"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is now in cinemas. Its follow-up "Star Wars Episode 8" will be released on May 26, 2017.

While "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" makes its way up to the top spot of the list of highest-grossing films of all time -- it is now head-to-head with James Cameron's "Avatar" --  discussions about its follow-up, "Star Wars Episode 8," have already started.

The movie will be released in May 2017, just five months after the spin-off "Star Wars: Rogue One" hits the silver screen. It is expected to shed light on the slew of mysteries the JJ Abrams blockbuster has established.

[Spoiler Alert! The following contains "The Force Awakens" spoilers.]

First off is Han Solo's fate. So far, details have revealed that the smuggler turned hero portrayed by Harrison Ford will be back in "Star Wars: Episode 8."

However, this does not guarantee the character's resurrection. Rumors suggest that he will only be seen in flashbacks, much like a Force ghost or a guide to Kylo Ren that will help tell the story of how his son Ben Solo came to be one of the most feared evil knights in the galaxy.

Of course, "Star Wars: Episode 8" is expected to provide more details about Luke Skywalker, including his location and his intentions. In the final minutes of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Rey travelled to the planet where the Jedi master secluded himself for years and brought to him his lightsaber.

Not much is known about Luke's location until the script for the record-breaking film made its way to the Writer's Guild for awards consideration and the movie came out.

It was revealed that Luke isolated himself in a planet called Ach-to, where the first Jedi Temple is located. The planet contains a "pristine and mighty" ocean "dotted with random, beautiful, mountainous black rock islands" and "countless green trees."

Now that Luke's hideaway has been revealed, "Star Wars: Episode 8" should give a picture of what led him there. But more than that, fans will wait for his reaction when he meets Rey face-to-face.

The fact that he looked like he knew who Rey was and that she will eventually get to him is the bigger mystery. Rumor has it that Luke is related to Rey. The question is in what way. "Star Wars: Episode 8" should answer all that when it premieres May 26, 2017.
