There is a rumor circulating about a possible trilogy remaster of 1998 platform video game "Spyro the Dragon."

According to Kotaku UK, the upcoming "Spyro the Dragon" trilogy remaster for PlayStation 4 (PS4), with PS4 Pro support will be announced in March this year and released in the third quarter (Q3) of 2018. The remaster will include "Spyro the Dragon," "Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!" and "Spyro: Year of the Dragon." Moreover, Vicarious Visions of Activision is working on the development of the remaster. It is the same studio that handled the successfully released "Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy."

Same as the "Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy," the game will feature new visuals and assets, lighting, animations, cinematics, a remastered soundtrack, updated save feature and content cut from the original releases of the trilogy. In addition, the trilogy remaster will be PS4-exclusive for a year before being ported to other platforms in 2019. Kotaku UK noted that "Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy" is also PlayStation 4-exclusive for a year and will release to other platforms this 2018.

As mentioned earlier, Kotaku UK said that the "Spyro the Dragon" trilogy remaster is scheduled to release in the third quarter of the year. One Kotaku UK source suggested that the trilogy remaster may launch in September to celebrate "Spyro the Dragon's" 20th anniversary.

In "Spyro the Dragon,"  players take on the role of Spyro, a young, purple dragon that sets out on a journey across various worlds to rescue and free its fellow dragons that were encased in crystals by Gnasty Gnorc, a half-gnome and half-orc of the sixth realm. He will have to fight and defeat Gnasty Gnorc to ensure the safety of his kind. Along the way, he will also collect treasure and rescue dragon eggs.

The "Spyro the Dragon" trilogy was originally developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Activision, Insomniac Games and Sony have yet to confirm the development of the trilogy remaster.
