The "SoulCalibur" series is one that is not easily forgotten despite the four long years seemingly in a hiatus. As such, fans are excited with the news that the latest "SoulCalibur 6" would be coming out soon, especially since a demo version has been released, and it features new moves.

According to GameSpot, Bandai Namco recently had a showcase where they allowed people to play a demo version of "SoulCalibur 6." As a demo version, it would normally feel quite limited, but fortunately, it was enough to give a good grasp of the new gameplay. Mainly, players took note of its two new combat mechanics: Reversal Edge and Lethal Edge.

These two are quite straightforward. Reversal Edge, as the name implies, gives you the edge for a good chance of reversal. In previous titles of the franchise, skilled players always had the chance to continuously hit their opponents enough to beat them or get them out of the ring. With Reversal Edge, time is slowed down, allowing the weaker players to counter the opponent's attack if they guess their next move right.

Lethal Edge or Hit, on the other hand, is similar to Reversal Edge in that it also slows down the time. However, the setup is quite different. For Lethal Edge to work, the attack will only be available when a specific condition is satisfied. The conditions change depending on the character. As an example, for Mitsurugi, Lethal Edge gets triggered when he does a vertical slash coming from a knocked-down position.

Aside from the two new mechanics, developers have retained previous moves, some with new twists. There is still the Critical Edge move, which is the character's special move, and players can still use the Guard Impact move, which is another counter-attack. For Guard Impact, however, there is a slight new addition. Specifically, it has been changed so that when Guard Impact gets triggered by pressing the back and block buttons, it knocks down the enemy, making you move aside, and thus, gaining a positional advantage.

"SoulCalibur 6" will be playable on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. No official date has been announced, but it will come within 2018.
