After its season 4 registered the lowest average ratings for the series, "Sleepy Hollow" is no longer having a fifth season run as reports claim that Fox Network has canceled the series. However, it is said there is still a possibility for the series' lifeline to be extended as fans launched an online petition to save it, believing the return of a beloved character can revive the interest of the public in "Sleepy Hollow."
According to Variety, "Sleepy Hollow" is finally heading to the chopping board because of the supernatural series' poor performance in the ratings games. Reportedly, the series only registered an average of 0.5 rating in the 18–49 demographics, which translates to 1.9 million total viewers only. The number shows a 37 percent decline from the show's average viewership in its season 3.
However, even before the cancellation of the series, it is said there were already handwritings on the wall suggesting its season 4 would be its last. With its first three seasons delivering 18 episodes each, it is said "Sleepy Hollow" season 4's 13-episode offering was already an indication that the paranormal series would take a bow.
To recall, many fans of "Sleepy Hollow" threatened last year that they would stop supporting the show after Nicole Beharie's Abbie was killed off in its season 3 finale. With "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 registering a poor viewership share, it seems that the threat of those fans did not just remain as such.
However, according to reports, loyal fans have launched an online petition to save "Sleepy Hollow" and extend its life for another season. Reportedly, many believe the paranormal series can still be saved if it brings back Beharie, who, reportedly, left the show because she felt she was no longer given a storyline in the series that fits her character as The Witness.
Is there a chance for "Sleepy Hollow" season 5? Will Beharie agree to return and save the show from cancellation?
