Sims 5 release delay may be down to next gen consoles; Hopes remain of cross platform play, VR

The Sims 4 Holiday Celebration Pack thesims.com

After the rumors about a console version of Sims 4 have been settled by a tweet from Lyndsay Pearson, Sims 5 is the new topic for debate. While no official statement from EA or Maxis has been issued, gaming pros are speculating a release of the  Sims 5 optimised for cross platform game play.

It has been somewhat dissapointing for gamers to not get to play Sims 4 on their consoles since everyone had hoped the game to come to popular consoles like X box and PS like its predicessors. However Sim 4 has remained confined to PC  with the franchise merely issuing extension packs from time to time.

However, the dissapointment does die down a bit with the hopeful news about Sims 5 being a cross platform game. Especially after Microsoft announced plans for its play from anywhere feature, now gamers can switch between PC and console while playing. So, if indeed Sims 5 will be released with the feature it is surely to do well in the markets.

Another feature to watch out for in Sims 5 would be the speculated Virtual Reality aspect of the game. Although the idea of VR is still a fancy, who knows Sims 5 might just be able to incorporate that aspect in its gameplay.

With hopes high for an early release of the game, some are also dismissing any such release stating that the game developers might just wait for the next generation of consoles to arrive, which would be around 2019 to say the least. This sounds like a safe bet if indeed the Sims 5 is looking at offering cross platform game play.

In fact, it must be recalled that in 2014 EA representatives had made a statement to the effect that Sims 5 will depend on the success of Sims 4 and incase Sims 4 doesn't succeed, there will be no Sims 5. Now with the franchise pumping in everything to keep Sims 4 affloat, it is hoped that somehow Sims 5 will see daylight, sooner or later.
