'Shadow of the Colossus' dev's next game is another remaster

Hunting down the legendary colossi is the core gameplay of "Shadow of Colossus" Bluepoint Games

Bluepoint Games, the developer of the recently released remaster for 2005 "Shadow of Colossus," announced that their next game will be another remaster.

In an exclusive interview with Eurogamer's Digital Foundry, Bluepoint's president and co-owner Marco Thrush was asked if the expanded art team employed for "Shadow of Colossus" will be utilized for an upcoming original game. Thrush replied that they could, however, they are planning to do another remake. He said that their recent project helped in growing the art team and that their next step includes improving the art pipeline, engine and artists' workflow. The Bluepoint president said that the upcoming remake they are planning is bigger in scope than what they did to "Shadow of Colossus."

Peter Dalton, Bluepoint's technical director said that in their recent project, the game studio grew in both the number of people and skill level they possess, which consequently, allowed Bluepoint to see their respective areas of weaknesses. They are now looking forward to exploring their design prowess — particularly, their ability to build something from the original and expanding it rather than plainly upgrading the original.

Eurogamer pointed out that the game studio's expansion strategy involves growing over time to cater the needs of each game they are developing. The Digital Foundry believes Bluepoint has come to the point where it has the ability to tackle whatever project it has in mind. Dalton confirmed Eurogamer's belief when he said that the studio has reached the point wherein they are capable of doing an original development or whatever project comes their way.

Digital Trends think Bluepoint is working on a remaster of either a "Resistance" or "Killzone" trilogy. The website said that although a remake of "MediEvil" was announced, it is still too small for the scope Thrush had earlier referred too.

As of writing, Bluepoint has yet to reveal the name of the game they are planning to remaster.
