Lies and manipulations will be a notch higher in the next episode of "Scandal" season 5.

In a sneak peek for the upcoming episode titled "I See You," Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield) makes Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) know that she is tracking down all his moves when she confronts him about his interactions with Governor Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira), one of the presidential aspirants in the upcoming elections.

At first, Abby seems confident that she has caught Cyrus off guard because of all the information that she gathered about his personal communication with the governor. But as she confronts him about it, Cyrus comes up with valid excuses that gets him off the hook.

Then Cyrus has gotten furious because she was spying on him and accused him of lying. Does it mean that Abby is wrong about Cyrus's alleged betrayal?

In the upcoming episode, Abby's intention of replacing Cyrus as the White House chief of staff will be revealed. Based on the trailer for the episode, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) knows about Abby's plans, and warns her former Gladiator about it.

"Once you take the white hat off, there will be no turning back," Olivia warns Abby about her plans.

Meanwhile, Olivia will also be busy with her own scheming and spying after she learns that her former lover Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) is planning to marry his new girlfriend. She will even abandon her team as she concentrates on keeping an eye on Jake.

According to the synopsis, "Olivia continues to spy on Jake while the gladiators have to fend for themselves. Meanwhile, Susan and Mellie are feeling the pressure as their campaigns heat up; Abby begins to question Cyrus's motives; and a blast from the past surprises everyone."
