A wildfire has forced the evacuation of over 20,000 homes in San Diego, California.

The blaze broke out Tuesday morning at around 10.40 a.m. and has spread to over 800 acres, forcing the evacuation of two high schools and an elementary school.

The fire, which started south of Camino San Bernardo west of Del Norte High School, spread fast due to dry Santa Ana winds, burning through hundreds of acres.

Most homes that have been evacuated are located in the northern San Diego County.

All residents of Black Mountain in zip codes 92129 and 92129 have also been ordered to evacuate.

Evacuation centers have been set up at Torrey Pines High School, Poway High School and Rancho Bernardo High School.

So far, there are no reports of damages to structures, but the fire continues to burn out of control, according to officials.

Helicopters are dropping water onto the blazing flame as additional evacuations for Fairbanks Rand and eastern Rancho Santa Fe areas were issued.
