The San Antonio Spurs are facing the possibility of losing two-thirds of its big three as Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are rumored to be leaving the franchise with a massive hole to fill through the NBA trade.
David West recently turned down his $1.55 million player option for next season, although a possible return to Spurs will still depend on the plans of general manager RC Buford.
Duncan and Ginobili's return to the Spurs is still up in the air. However, reports suggest that the team feels that the former will opt against coming back.
"The Spurs say they don't know what Duncan is going to do, but they are guessing he will walk away," Buck Harvey of the San Antonio Express-News said.
Tony Parker also appears to have no idea on what direction Duncan will take, but it will surely be a very busy offseason for the Spurs either way.
The Spurs have been in the NBA trade rumors for quite a while. There is a buzz about the franchise's efforts to acquire Mike Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies, which might end in vain, as per Air Alamo.
As per the site, the Spurs should pursue Rajon Rondo during the NBA trade next month when Conley opts to return to his team next season.
The publication says that the Spurs should benefit from his outside shooting, which has been at its most impressive this season at 37 percent from downtown.
Assists wouldn't be a problem for Rondo as well. Last season saw the Sacramento Kings point guard led the league in assists. He did the same in two other seasons.
While it is still unknown if Spurs will look to get Rondo, there are reports about the franchise offering a two-year deal with Davis Bertans of the Spanish club Laboral Kutxa.
The Latvian cager still has one year left with the team, but it is believed that Spurs can still buy him out. After all, the team has a history of acquiring international players and with Bertans' performance this season, he is someone the Spurs will likely come after.
Bertans was only able to play 39 games this season due to his anterior cruciate ligament or ACL injury, but he made the most out of this limited number of appearances.
He recorded an average of 7.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 22.6 minutes of action. He also rendered 43.3 percent from the floor and 42.6 percent from beyond the arc.
