Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 3 and 2 users wait for Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update schedule

Android 5.0 Lollipop update Android

After Google announced earlier that the Android 5.0 Lollipop will finally reach the public soon, a lot of Samsung users are wondering when their devices will finally start receiving the update.

According to reports, the first devices to carry the latest Android operating system will be the upcoming Nexus 6 phablet and Nexus 9 tablet from Google. These devices will be released sometime in November.

Then, the other devices under the Nexus line will be given an OS update as well. CNet mentioned that Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 will experience the Android 5.0 Lollipop update "in the coming weeks."

But when will Samsung smartphones get updated?  GottaBe Mobile reported that the South Korean consumer and tech brand had not confirmed its plans to update their devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop soon.

It is expected that most of its 2014 releases will possibly be compatible with the updates, such as its flagship phones Galaxy S5 and the recently released Galaxy Note 4. However, it is also possible to find the last-generation releases such as the Galaxy S4 as well as the Galaxy Note 3.

However, earlier rumors posted on SamMobile last month mentioned that Samsung's flagship phones will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update before the year ends. The article said that both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 "should get the Android L update by the end of November/early December – it's not clear when Google will make the new version available for Nexus devices, but based on our info Samsung should be pretty quick at adapting it for its own devices."

Yesterday, a leaked document showing Samsung's roll-out schedule for Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for some of its smartphones had been reported. If the document proves to be true, it means that the tech giant will still be busy updating their devices to the previous OS version until November. It would probably take more time before the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled-out by the company.

Still, Samsung is notorious for being late in delivering updates, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to users if the updates don't arrive on time.
