Samsung Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 7 rumored specs: Future next-generation flagship smartphones

With just a month away before 2014 is officially over, speculations about the next generation of flagship phones from two of the leading tech brands in the world is starting to circulate online. The rumored specs for Apple Inc.'s alleged iPhone 7 and Samsung's Galaxy S6 are already making the rounds, and it seems like the heated rivalry between the two mobile manufacturers will be carried over until the coming year.

But based on the speculations, which of the next-generation flagship smartphones should buyers look forward to in 2015? Here is a rundown of the rumored features of the alleged iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S6:

Based on new reports, the next iPhone device will finally feature the highly anticipated sapphire glass display that was supposed to be featured in this year's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The screen could allow users to enjoy 3D viewing with the new display.

The iPhone 7, or possibly the iPhone 6s, might also be equipped with a new A9 processor from the Cupertino tech giant, but several rumors claim that it might not be entirely true.

There are also reports that the future iPhone release will have a jaw-dropping 21-megapixel camera to be able to compete with other brands. It may also feature a two-lens system that would let future users to take crisp, sharp images that can be compared to those taken using a DSLR camera, which could be made possible with a reported collaboration with Sony.

The release date for the next iPhone flagship product has yet to be revealed as of the moment.

Samsung Galaxy S6

Speculations reveal that the new Samsung flagship phone may come with a 2560 x 1440 resolution quad HD display, with 64-bit processor that will be equivalent to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 for the American market. It will also have a microSD slot that would allow the device's memory to be expanded up to 256 GB.

The Galaxy S6 is also reportedly coming with a 20-megapixel OIS-enabled primary camera that has a 4K video recording capacity, while its selfie shooter will be 5 megapixels.

Gadget watchers are expecting to hear the release date from the South Korean consumer and electronics manufacturer during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona sometime next year.
