Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update this week: AT&T version of S3, Verizon test build for Samsung S4, S3, Note 2

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean security update will roll out across the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play editions this week with the codename JWR66Y.

The Google Play handsets feature the same specs as the carrier-based models but they run on pure Android software that makes updates easier and doesn't require Samsung's TouchWiz UI or HTC's Sense platforms.

According to AndroidOrigin.com, the security update came on the back of the $5,700 Bitcoin heist last August.  Google developers confirmed a cryptographic vulnerability in the Android operating system that compromised security on hundreds of thousands of end-user apps.

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was spotted by a Reddit user on the AT&T model of the Samsung Galaxy S3 via GFXBenchmark.

Good news for owners of the AT&T version - if it's true. The build number is listed by GFXBenchmark as JSS15J but it could be a test build and benchmarks can be faked.

According to AndroidOrigin.com, Android ROM developers AOKP have today released an unofficial 4.3 test build for Verizon versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 and the Note 2.

It noted that the Bluetooth, GPS and Camera pp don't work on the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and that the test build may not have fixed this problem.

Nexus users already got their Android 4.3 update a week ago.

T-Mobile and Vodafone versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 in Europe also just got their Jelly Bean Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware, Android 4.1.2 N7000XXLTA, replacing region-specific OTA updates.
