Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Sprint's discounted pre-order deal, phone on being 'bendy,' and 'Gapgate'

If earlier reports are correct, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will come out more "bendy" compared to iPhone 6.

However, the Galaxy Note 4's bend is nothing like the flaw being pointed out about Apple Inc.'s latest flagship phone. The Note 4 will, instead, come out with a bendy, flexible screen just like last year's Galaxy Round, released exclusively for the South Korean market.

But if the dismal sales of Galaxy Round is an indicator of the validity of this rumor, then it would be unlikely that the anticipated new flagship phone from Samsung will come out with a curved screen.

Meanwhile, the South Korean consumer and electronics brand took the opportunity to ride into the supposed "Bendgate" scandal that rocked iPhone 6 in the past days.

Apple fan website posted a video by Samsung that obviously mocks the Bendgate controversy. It says, "And apparently, our hips are strong – stronger than we give it credit for. Leaving things in your back pocket can lead to, well, bent things. Hence the question: what about my phone? Namely, the Galaxy Note 4..."

Still, the Galaxy Note 4 is plagued with a controversy of its own. According to reports, the earlier released units of the device have a gap between the edges of the frame, about the size of a regular business card. Some were concerned that it will affect the waterproof function of the phone, yet Samsung was fast to deny these reports.

In a statement, the tech giant said, "The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards."

Meanwhile, U.S. network carrier Sprint silently cut down the pre-order contract price of the Galaxy Note 4. The two-year plan was slashed by $50 from the earlier price of $349.99. Now, Sprint offers the pre-ordered plan for only $299.99 to compete with similar plans offered by Verizon Wireless and AT&T.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is scheduled to be released in the U.S. by Oct. 17.
