Salvation Army and Home Depot team up for camp revamp

A Salvation Army camp in Pennsylvania is getting spruced up in time to receive summer campers with help from The Home Depot.

More than a hundred volunteers have been provided by the home improvement retailer to get Camp Allegheny in ship shape.

They got to work on Thursday to paint, mend, clean and landscape the facility as part of Home Depot's associate-led volunteer programme.

At the heart of the Team Depot programme lies service to the communities where the associates live and work.

In addition to providing the volunteers, Home Depot also donates products and cash grants to support the community projects.

Dave Musen, Home Depot Ohio Valley Regional Vice President said: "I'm always humbled by our associates' contributions to Team Depot projects and am very proud to work for a company that promotes and encourages associates to be actively involved in their communities.

"It's a privilege to partner with the Salvation Army preparing Camp Allegheny for this summer's activities."

Salvation Army Divisional Youth and Candidate's Secretary, Major Dean Satterlee: "We are blessed that Home Depot selected our facility and programme.

"We are serving more children now than ever and we are in serious need for the renovations. In this economy, this gift is a blessing."
