Years after announcing that their romantic relationship finally ended, "Twilight" lead stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are still being linked to each other despite having new relationships of their own.
The former couple had a huge following when they portrayed the fan-favorite roles of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in the movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's "The Twilight Saga," which explains why their real-life relationship was under scrutiny by the public.
After announcing their split in May 2013, both Pattinson and Stewart started dating other people. Pattinson is with London-based singer-songwriter FKA twigs, while Stewart admitted having a relationship with her former assistant Alicia Cargile.
In an interview with Elle for its September 2016 issue, the "Café Society" star opened up about the difference of her relationship now with Cargile compared to her highly publicized past with Pattinson.
"When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn't like it," the actress said. "We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, 'That's mine. You're making my relationship something that it's not.' I didn't like that."
Now that Stewart is dating someone from the same sex, she said she began feeling more relaxed and in control.
"I was like, 'Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I'm not down with it or I'm ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I'm so much happier,'" she added.
Meanwhile, a source reportedly told Hollywood Life that Pattinson is happy about his ex-girlfriend's newfound love.
"Things are making a whole lot more sense to Rob now with Kristen's reveal about the relationship they had," the source reportedly shared. "He really appreciates her and just would like her to be happy and that is what it looks like to him. If she is happy, he is happy. It is as simple as that!"
Pattinson and FKA Twigs are also rumored to be engaged.
