'Riverdale' season 2 cast: Skeet Ulrich on who should play Jughead's mom

Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones on "Riverdale" The CW

"Riverdale" has yet to introduce Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) mom, but Skeet Ulrich -- who plays the Jones patriarch, FP on the show -- already has someone in mind who could be his on-screen estranged wife.

In an interview with TV Line, the actor suggested "Scream" co-star Neve Campbell for the role. While he admits he does not know if or when the character would appear in "Riverdale," he says he likes the nostalgic appeal of casting the actress.

"I know she's busy doing some films and stuff like that, so I don't know if that's a possibility," Ulrich told the publication. "But yeah, I think she'd be very intriguing... She's very talented, and I think the reference to Scream would really tickle people."

The actress portrayed Sidney Scott, a high school student terrorized by the Ghostface killer in the 1996 movie while he played her boyfriend, Billy Loomis.

Should she sign up to play the part, Campbell would be joining other '90s stars including "Twin Peaks" actress Madchen Amick who plays Betty's (Lili Reinhart) mother, Alice Cooper; former "90210" heartthrob Luke Perry who is the show's Fred Andrews; and '80s queen Molly Ringwald who plays Mary Andrews.

Jughead's mother has been referenced a few times on "Riverdale," but she has not been seen nor given a name. What fans only know is that she lives in Toledo with Jughead's younger sister Jellybean, who has yet to debut in the show as well. After FP's arrest for Jason Blossom's (Trevor Stines) murder in the first season, Cole's character tried to live with her mother only to be turned away.

"Riverdale" showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said during this past July's San Diego Comic-Con that they hope to introduce the remaining members of the Jones family soon. But that all comes down to casting the right actors before they incorporate the storyline.

"It might be something that happens in the second half of the season," he said.

"Riverdale" is on hiatus right now. It returns Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
