'Rise of the Tomb Raider' final DLC 'Cold Darkness Awakened' release date announced

 Crystal Dynamics

Lara Croft will take her fans on an icy adventure when the third and final DLC for "Rise of the Tomb Raider" comes out Tuesday next week.

The announcement was posted on Xbox News, saying that the "Rise of the Tomb Raider: Cold Darkness Awakened" DLC will be released on March 29.

According to the announcement, the expansion pack will follow Lara Croft as she infiltrates an abandoned Cold War research facility which was the source of a deadly "affliction" that affected the wilderness located around the base. This caused the Trinity soldiers to become bloodthirsty monsters who resort to murder and massive killings for survival.

"To prevent the affliction from spreading, Lara must rely on her wits, physical agility, and crafting abilities to overcome this new enemy and shut down the decommissioned base," the game description reveals.

The "Rise of the Tomb Raider: Cold Darkness Awakened" DLC will be available for purchase for $9.99 via Steam, Windows Store, and Xbox Store. But players can also get hold of all the game's expansion packs by purchasing the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Season Pass.

This includes the "Endurance Mode" DLC, which comes with several additional tombs that increase the game's level of difficulty by requiring Lara to look for basic supplies to survive. This was released on Dec. 29, 2015. The second DLC pack called "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch" was released on Jan. 26.

The "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Season Pass can be purchased by Xbox and PC players for $29.99.

Meanwhile, those who have yet to purchase "Rise of the Tomb Raider" can avail of the game for a discounted price this week as part of Microsoft's Spring Sale. The regular edition can now be owned for $44.99 instead of the usual price of $59.99, but Xbox Live with Gold subscribers can purchase the game at an even lower price of $38.99. The Deluxe edition also comes with a discounted price of $80.00 for non-Live with Gold subscribers and $71.99 for subscribers instead of the original price of $89.99.
