Mr. Poopybutthole claims that the wait for "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be quite a long one. But the latest update from the people behind the animation series revealed that the production of Adult Swim's sci-fi comedy is currently underway.

In his recent Twitter post, writer Mike McMahan showed the cover of the script that he wrote for "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere and revealed that the recording for the episode had already begun. He also posted a photo of voice actors preparing for recording in the studio.

The announcement of the third season of the adventure-themed animated series was dropped shortly after the sophomore season began. In an interview with Den of Geek in December 2015, series co-creator Dan Harmon teased where the adventures of the eccentric scientist named Rick and his good-hearted grandson Morty will head in season 3.

"It's time to demand that the network allows us to draw the characters going to Hawaii," Harmon said.

However, the official release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3 has yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, fans of the animated series do not have to miss "Rick and Morty" for a long time, since the first ever comic book based on the series is about to be released.

Newsarama released the cover image for the retailer incentive variant that was illustrated by artist Savanna Ganucheau for the comic book by Tom Fowler titled "Rick and Morty #14," and it will be out in May 2016.

The report also released the synopsis for the comic book, which reads:

"Having survived their adventures fending off alien invasions in 'head-space,' Rick and Morty finally return home just in time for the beginning of the same freakin' alien invasion. Can Rick and Morty stave off this newest, samest invasion? What awful decisions will they be forced to make? How long will this new galactic empire last? (Maybe 80 years? More? Probably somewhere in there.)"
