Whenever a new season of Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty" comes out, fans rejoice as it generally takes two years for a new installment to be aired. Given the recent rise in the popularity of the animated series, however, many have been hoping for a shortened waiting. But, it looks like the fourth season will take just as long, possibly airing in 2019.

Apparently, no one is currently working on the script for the fourth season of the series. The show's writer-producer was the one who provided this information during an interview with The Detroit Cast. "As far as I know, no one's working on the show, and I'm certainly now, so I don't know what's going on. I haven't heard anything," says Ryan Ridley.

"They really take their time. I never understood why everybody - all parties, Dan [Harmon], Justin [Roiland], and Adult Swim - didn't get their s*** together, and make the show fast... I'm sure they all have their reasons," continued Ridley. As for at least giving an estimate as to when season four will air, he said that he would not be surprised if it would not "air anytime sooner than late 2019."

Given Ridley' sentiments on the show's production speed, it is understandable for fans to doubt whether season four would actually happen in the first place. Although the fact that each season was released about two years after the previous one can be reassuring, the doubt still exists.

On Harmon's side of the story, he knows that he will be making a season 4, according to Polygon. He did not exactly say much about it except that he definitely would want to do great in the upcoming season. "I fell apart in season three of [NBC's] 'Community' and got fired in season four," says Harmon. "Now I'm about to do season four of 'Rick and Morty' and want to prove that I've grown"

Unfortunately, Harmon did not give updates since then, nor did any others behind "Rick and Morty." At least for now, one thing is for sure, and that is that fans will have to wait long again before getting season four.
