Three lives will be at risk in the upcoming midseason premiere of "Reign" season 2 based on its recently released promo trailer.
In the promo video for the episode titled "Getaway," viewers will discover that the marriage of Mary (Adelaide Kane) to Francis (Toby Regbo) is still in limbo as the Queen of France blames her husband for the attack on her. But Mary does not sulk about it for a long time; instead, she tries to find a way to help save Conde (Sean Teale) from possible death in the hands of the Vatican.
Conde is being hunted because the Vatican believes that he is one of the Dark Riders, a group of Catholic rebels who go after Protestants to brand them with the so-called Devil's Mark, a pitch-fork shaped mark that symbolizes that whoever bears it has no soul. There are legends saying that the Dark Riders either have demonic powers or they are connected with the Castle Ghosts and the Reckoning, but those are not actually true.
Mary tries to do everything in her power to save Conde, who seems to be harboring feelings for her. In the promo video, someone is even implying that he should seduce the queen. But will Conde succeed in getting Mary now that her relationship with Francis is on the rocks?
Yet it seems like Francis is the only one who can help Conde, because he is bent on ending the rumors about the Dark Riders' notorious legend. He might be saving Conde's life, but it will put his half-brother Bash (Torrance Coombs) at risk since the truth about the infamous group will affect him in a big way.
Meanwhile, Claude's (Rose Williams) own mortality is in grave danger after her mother Catherine (Megan Follows) tried to poison her in the past episode. Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) attempts to warn her about her mother, and confesses what she knows about Catherine's real motives. But will Claude listen to Kenna, after the latter tells the former that she and Bash used to have a relationship?
"Reign" season 2 episode 11 airs on The CW on Jan. 22.
