Mary, Queen of Scots, believes that Narcisse could have framed Queen Catherine in order to gain more power, based on the latest trailer for "Reign" season 3 midseason premiere.

Based on the promo video, Mary (Adelaide Kane) will inform her friend Lola (Anna Popplewell) that Narcisse (Craig Parker) plotted to frame Catherine (Megan Follows) so she would be blamed for the death of Francis (Toby Regbo).

However, Lola will refuse to believe that her husband is power-hungry and will do such a thing to become the Regent of France.

How will Mary prove her former mother-in-law's innocence regarding the death of Francis?

Meanwhile, Mary will also have to deal with the aftermath of the accident that happened to the Spanish prince Don Carlos (Mark Ghanime). Based on the trailer for the episode, the Spanish people were furious when they learned about the prince's fate. They even burned effigies of Mary to show their anger toward the Scottish queen.

This means that Mary need to marry another member of nobility for the welfare of her country and learn to accept the fact that she needs to forget her heart's desire to be able to fulfill her duty as a nation's leader.

According to speculations, Mary's future husband could be introduced in the midseason premiere of "Reign" season 3.

Based on a report from Design & Trend, Mary's potential new husband could be Henry Stewart, also known as Lord Darnley.

Historical records reveal that Lord Darnley is actually Mary's cousin. The two were married in 1565, according to Britannica.

The official synopsis for the upcoming midseason premiere episode reads:

"As Mary and Catherine deal with the aftermath of Prince Don Carlos' accident, Mary realizes that she will have to marry for the good of her country and not follow her heart. When Catherine is accused of poisoning Francis, Lola is shocked when Mary thinks Narcisse (Craig Parker) framed Catherine in order to become Regent of France"

"Reign" season 3B premieres on Jan.8. on The CW.
