"Reign," the critically acclaimed fictionalized historical drama based on the events that happened in the royal court of Mary, Queen of Scots, is one of the TV series from The CW that received a renewal order. This means that the scandalous royal drama is not about to end, not even after Mary (Adelaide Kane) said that she is pregnant — not with her husband Francis' (Toby Regbo) child but with her lover Condé's (Sean Teale).
The teaser for the second season finale shows Mary crying while holding a bloody knife. Does that mean that the queen of Scotland will kill someone before season 2 comes to a close?
The synopsis for the season 2 finale titled "Burn," according to The Futon Critic, reads:
THERE IS ONLY ROOM FOR ONE QUEEN - Mary (Adelaide Kane) risks everything to take down Condé (Sean Teale), even as Francis (Toby Regbo) believes she is turning against France. Catherine (Megan Follows) makes a bold move and meets with Queen Elizabeth (guest star Rachel Skarsten) in a stunning plot to seek revenge on Mary. Meanwhile, Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) has a secret that will seal the fate of her relationship with Bash (Torrance Coombs).
Meanwhile, actor Jonathan Keltz talked about what fans should look forward to in the upcoming season of "Reign." The actor, who portrays the role of kitchen servant Leith Bayard, said that fans should prepare to find a very different story next season.
"I think people should be prepared. Season two is definitely very different from Season one, and Season three will be pretty different from Season two. This is a show that will continue to evolve. There will be new people arriving, there will be old people departing — and I don't mean old as in old age," the actor said.
Keltz also said that having Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) in season 3 brings a lot to the story. Her presence will bring a lot of new conflicts in the French royal court, particularly in Mary's life.
However, Keltz also confessed that he barely knows what is in store for viewers next season.
"We don't know anything that's gonna happen in Season three. I know how we lead things in Season two, but what happens moving forward, your guess is as good as mine," the actor admitted.
The season 2 finale of "Reign" airs May 14, while season 3 is expected to premiere in October.
