2019 is a big year for Rockstar Games, as the game studio is set to release one of the most anticipated titles, "Red Dead Redemption 2." Fans of the "Red Dead" series have been speculating about the next installment in the popular Western cowboy-themed game franchise for years, and now that the next sequel is finally happening, there is no doubt that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will rake in more profit for Rockstar. However, an industry analyst has predicted that the upcoming game will have a hard time toppling Rockstar's most successful title, "Grand Theft Auto V."

In an interview with Market Watch, gaming and tech expert Doug Creutz of Cowen and Company expressed his doubts about "Red Dead Redemption 2" becoming Rockstar's most successful video game of all time. While there is such a huge anticipation for the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel, the title still has long ways to go to outperform "Grand Theft Auto V," which continues to sell like hotcakes up to this day.

Cruetz considers "Grand Theft Auto V" as a "wild outlier," meaning that no one ever thought that the game would do so well in the market after its release in 2013. With this, he believes that Rockstar will have a hard time to find another "GTA V" from its upcoming game titles, and "Red Dead Redemption 2" is unlikely to achieve the same feat.

Still, the industry analyst does not downplay the potential success of "Red Dead Redemption 2," as he still believes that the game will perform really well in the market. According to Cruetz, Rockstar can still produce big hits other than "Grand Theft Auto V," and the "Red Dead" sequel is likely to be among them. However, as Cruetz pointed out, achieving the same commercial heights as "GTA V" would be difficult, which has already sold up to 90 million copies worldwide, Comic Book reported.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released this October.
