Sega, the publisher of the game "Puyo Puyo Tetris" developed by Sonic Team, announced that the game is set to release its Windows version on Feb. 27 via Steam.

"Puyo Puyo Tetris" is a crossover between the "Puyo Puyo" series and "Tetris." The gameplay is also a combination of the two games — in "Puyo Puyo," colored blobs called Puyos are dropped from the top of the screen and players must match four or more of the same color, while in "Tetris," players must accomplish a horizontal line from the shaped blocks known as Tetrominoes that also fall from the top of the screen. "Puyo Puyo Tetris" features five gameplay modes that include Swap, Fusion, Versus, Party and Big Bang modes. In Versus, Party and Big Bang modes, players can choose between "Puyo Puyo" and "Tetris" styles.

In Swap mode, players have to alternate between "Puyo Puyo" and "Tetris." In Fusion mode, one plays with a board that combines both "Puyo Puyo" and "Tetris." Versus mode allows players to face off against each other in the style of their own choosing. In Party mode, players are given power-ups and the winner will be determined by the highest score at the end of the time limit. In Big Bang mode, players must face the combined Fever mode from "Puyo Puyo" and Lucky Attack mode from "Tetris."

"Puyo Puyo Tetris" will also have a storyline that features 24 characters for players to choose from. Ringo, Amitie and Arle have been whisked away to a spaceship following an appearance of shaped blocks (Tetrominoes) in their "Puyo Puyo" world. They meet Tee and his crew in the spaceship named SS Tetra who came from a "Tetris" world. The group must search the space to find who is responsible for merging the two worlds — "Puyo Puyo" and "Tetris." The video for the upcoming video game can be viewed at this link.
