The PlayStation 4's (PS4) next major update (5.50), or at least its beta version, has already been rolled out to the gamers who signed up for it a few weeks ago. With the 5.50, a lot of changes are coming to the console's user interface (UI), and the focus seems to be on allowing players to easily organize their games.
The first thing players will notice is that the library has been divided into different sections depending on the kind of games the players have. There is a section for games that players have installed and those that they have purchased from the online store. There are other sections for games that are available via their PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscription.
Players can also filter out incomplete games such as demo, trial and beta versions. Another feature that 5.50 update brings to the console is the time-tracker called Play Time Management. As the name implies, players can track the usage of the PS4 and they are conveniently signed off when the time limit has been reached. There is also the option of not automatically signing them off — this is for older players as the signing-off feature was meant for the younger players.
Those who have a PS4 Pro but do not have a 4K high-definition (HD) TV will be glad to know that update 5.50 has added a supersampling feature. This allows the console to render the game at the highest resolution, then downscale it depending on the TV's resolution. This effectively makes the graphics a lot clearer.
On a minor but still useful note, people can now change the library's wallpaper to a custom image. Although this might not be new, a USB support feature has been added, where players can transfer images to the console via USB to set as their wallpaper. They can also zoom and crop those pictures.
