Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller's involvement in CW's upcoming hero-villain get-together series "Legends of Tomorrow" introduced a challenge in the production of "Prison Break" season 5, which comes seven years after the fourth and what was then believed was its final season.

"There are a lot of moving parts to that conversation but we are hopeful that we'll be able to shoot something this spring. Prison Break is taking its cue from Legends, which is the priority. So we're aiming for spring," Miller told TV Line during the Television Critics Association press tour.

Purcell, on the other hand, says that Warner Bros. (representing "Legends of Tomorrow") and 20th Century Fox (representing "Prison Break" season 5), are still doing their very best to find the middle ground and are "negotiating the complexities."

Purcell and Miller play the villainous dynamic duo Heatwave and Captain Cold in "Legends of Tomorrow," which premieres on Jan. 21. They first appeared as the rogues in "Flash" before they were handpicked to take part in a battle against the immortal Vandal Savage that transcends time and space in the spinoff.

"Prison Break" season 5, on the other hand, comes as a treat to fans of the show who never would have guessed that the hit serial drama will be resurrected. This is, in part, in consideration of situations the characters were left in.

The 10-episode continuation of Burrows and Scofield's story was made official by Fox back in August last year. Fox CEO Dana Walden said back then via TV Line that it would be "a bit of a sequel" and will begin several years after the events that transpired in season 4.

While Miller and Purcell are officially signed up to reprise their well-loved roles, it remains a mystery if Sarah Wayne Callies will be back with them as Scofield's love interest Sara Tancredi. It will also be interesting to see how Scofield, who died in the season 4 finale, will return from the grave.

A premiere date for "Prison Break" season 5 has not been announced yet.
