The first look at Elizabeth Banks's portrayal of Rita Repulsa for the upcoming movie adaptation of "Power Rangers" has been released.

The photo, first published by People, revealed that the new movie version of the iconic villain in the "Mighty Morphine Power Rangers" franchise will have a different look compared to its TV counterpart.

In the upcoming reboot, Rita Repulsa will have a lighter, shinier headgear that comes with gold accents. It also has a green-colored rope used to tie up her hair in a tight ponytail. She is also wearing a body-tight, reptilian-inspired green costume with green ropes wrapped around her neck.

The former Rita Repulsa, portrayed by different actresses over time, donned two very distinctive head cones made from her long, silvery hair. She also wore a vest with pointed breasts and a very high collar.

In an interview with Banks regarding Rita Repulsa's new look, Banks revealed that her character's transformation matches the current time.

"It's definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa," the actress told People.

She also revealed that the movie reboot wants to give the character a backstory that will link her to the new batch of Power Rangers.

Banks is not a stranger to portraying roles with elaborate costumes. In her portrayal as the character named Effie Trinket in "The Hunger Games" movie saga, the actress also wore over-the-top costumes which are common among Capitol citizens in the movie.

The new "Power Rangers" film also features Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger and Becky G as the Yellow Ranger.

Production for the upcoming movie will begin at the Steveston Village in Richmond, Vancouver on Monday, April 25. The filming is expected to last until Thursday, May 19.

According to the 604 Now website, most of the scenes of the film will be shot on Moncton Street, while some of the other scenes will be filmed between the First and Third avenues of Bayview Street.

The new "Power Rangers" movie will be released in theaters on March 24, 2017.
