Tekken-inspired fighting game "Pokken DX" is getting two new downloadable content packs in the near future. The announcement was made earlier on Jan. 11 during the Nintendo Mini Direct.

The Nintendo Mini Direct was uploaded to Nintendo's YouTube channel on Jan. 11. Aside from introducing the upcoming Nintendo Switch games, the mini direct also dropped a list of the DLC packs coming to already existing games, including "Pokken DX."

The update will come in two parts, with the first DLC coming on Jan. 31.

The first DLC will add a new Pokémon named Aegislash to the roster of fighters. Aegislash comes equipped with a sword it can use in combat. Two support characters will also be included in the first wave, legendary Pokémon Rayquaza and Pikachu wannabe Mimikyu.

Meanwhile the second DLC – which is coming out on March 23 – will be introducing Blastoise to the roster – a well-loved Pokémon from the first generation, Blastoise comes with its water cannons. Similar to wave one, the second DLC will also come with its support Pokémon. Legendaries Mew and Celebi will be joining Blastoise and entering the "Pokken DX" roster in March.

"Pokken DX" first came to the Switch in 2017.

A new take on the usual roleplaying Pokémon Games, "Pokken DX" took away the Pokémon trainers and the usual gotta-catch-em-all storyline of the main games, and instead, decided to take Pokémon fighting to a new Tekken-like level. "Pokken DX" has a roster composed of different Pokémon. Players can pick any of the available Pokémon and have them duke it out against each other in different arenas.

The main game is composed of two phases. The first one allows for players to fight in a 3D arena, while the second phase switches up the perspective. Similar to arcade fighting games, players must duke it out up close and personal in 2D spaces. While Pokémon in "Pokken DX" can use normal fighting moves such as punches and grapples, they are not limited to that, and many still have their signature moves from their original games.
