Pokemon Sun and Moon news: Nintendo set to reveal details this week; will we find out launch date?

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" details will be revealed on May 10. The Pokemon Company/Nintendo

Nintendo has been very busy with "Pokemon GO," but it hasn't forgotten about "Pokemon Sun and Moon." In fact, new details about the upcoming pair of games will be revealed this week.

Producer Junichi Masuda took to Twitter to announce some "big news to everyone in the world" dropping on May 10 at 8 p.m. ET (11 a.m. ET or 4 p.m. BST). He also teased on his blog about "brand new information" about the upcoming "Pokemon" titles to be revealed on that day.

There was no clarification as to how this important news about "Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be relayed to fans, but Masuda should give further details anytime before the event.

Not much has been said about the games since they were confirmed back in February, so fans are understandably excited about Masuda's announcement. Gamers hope that a new gameplay trailer will drop or a release date announcement will take place.

Fans will remember that last month, Masuda promised to show new footage from "Pokemon Sun and Moon" during his visit at the Japanese show "Gathering at the Pokemon House."

To the disappointment of fans, the footage broadcasted was the same one released during the Nintendo Direct held prior to his appearance on the show.

Not keen on experiencing such again, fans hope that Masuda really has something new to say about "Pokemon Sun and Moon" on May 10.

In the past, Masuda had hinted that the titles will come with more than 10 Pokemons, although he said this without being serious. It has been awhile since Nintendo talked about the "Pokemon" installments, so the May 10 reveal is looking to produce a good load of surprises and revelations.

The event will hopefully shed some light on what "Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be all about and when fans can actually get their hands on them.

Rumor has it that the games are bringing players to a tropical location and that there will be at least three Legendary Pokemons to be featured.
