'Pokemon Sun and Moon' news: Over 10 new Pokemon to be included

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" will feature 10 new Pokemon. The Pokemon Company/Nintendo

"Pokemon" series director Junichi Masuda has confirmed that there will be more than 10 new Pokemon to expect in "Pokemon Sun and Moon."

He did not go into detail about them yet but Game Rant believes the list will likely include two possible Legendary Pokemon, the newly discovered mythical Pokemon Magearna and the bird-like Pokemon from the footage.

However, the fact that the Masuda answered without being serious can mean a lot of things. Nevertheless, his answer is the first new information about "Pokemon Sun and Moon" in regards to new creatures.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" are rumored to be located in a new tropical setting, which had many believing that there will be a new generation of monsters to catch, train and battle.

However, it will be no surprise for the titles to bring back older-generation Pokemon as well as Nintendo has done this in its previous offerings.

This "Pokemon Sun and Moon" nugget was revealed during the Japanese variety show "Gathering at the Pokemon House," which was supposed to feature a first look at the upcoming Pokemon games.

To the frustration of fans who looked forward to the day, the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" footage on the variety show ended up being the same one shown in the recent Nintendo Direct (embedded below).

While not much came out of "Gathering at the Pokemon House," fans can look forward to the next issue of CoroCoro Comic on April 15. The Japanese magazine will talk about the special features in "Pokemon Sun and Moon."

Hopefully, the magazine will also provide information on which Pokemon will be in the titles as well as the gameplay mechanics and battles. Rumor has it, though, that CoroCoro will reveal which starter Pokemon will be included in the installments.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be released later this year.
