After revealing that they will receive multi-million dollar funding from big investors early this month, Niantic Inc. promised to drop another big announcement from the game studio regarding the development of the highly anticipated augmented reality game "Pokémon GO," which will be developed for mobile phones.

Express UK recently reported about the game developer's plans for the upcoming mobile game from the best-selling "Pokémon" franchise, but the details about the announcement are still unrevealed at the moment. But fans of the video game series are still looking forward to the revelation regarding the big news anytime now.

Previous reports said that Niantic will be getting huge financial support from its parent company Google, as well as Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, which will reach a sum of $20 million. An additional $10 million will be given when it reaches a certain milestone in the future.

According to the game studio, the funds that they will receive from their investors will be used for the continuous development of "Pokémon GO," as well as the expansion of the studio's other signature game called "Ingress."

Niantic is fortunate to get the backing of the three video game giants, especially from the Japanese video game manufacturer Nintendo, according to Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal.

"This is something that Nintendo had not done for decades," Goyal said, as quoted by Barron's Asia. "This further investment is another indication that mobile is not a 'lets-try-and-see' venture for Nintendo. We believe this [Niantic partnership] is now going to be the core of the new Nintendo, around which it will try to grow its IP / franchise." I

In September, it was announced that Nintendo will be releasing the augmented reality game with the "Pokémon GO Plus" wearable device which will be equipped with Bluetooth technology to let users know that a Pokémon is located nearby.

"Pokémon GO" is expected to be released sometime in 2016.
