'Pokemon Go' news: Niantic gives players double XP and special Pokemon with this month's Community Days event

Niantic's augmented reality game "Pokemon Go" has been in gamers' phones for almost a couple of years now. Recently, the company has encouraged all players to meet up in a monthly event called Community Days.

The first "Pokemon Go" Community Day will be on Jan. 20 and players can expect a lot of surprises from Niantic this month. First, there will be double experience gain for players who will participate in the three-hour event. This means that players around the world will level up faster.

There will also be a chance to get unique items when people play on a specified time frame. In addition to this, there will be special Pokemon with unique abilities available for catching.

The Niantic "Pokemon Go" Community Day event will likely last for three hours.

In the United States, this could mean that the event will last from 11 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) to 2 p.m. PT.

Niantic said that they thought of the event because they were "constantly blown away by the passion of Pokémon Go players around the world." This is also a way for the company to revitalize the long-time players of the game, as well as ease the newcomers into the augmented reality game, of course.

This is not the first time that Niantic pushed for Community events for the augmented reality game. "Pokemon Go" events were also promoted last summer. The company also said that the upcoming Community Day can be treated as an "experiment" for all other future events to come.

Niantic reminded players to mind safety while playing the game. They said that player should respect public spaces, and of course the personal space of other individuals.

The "Pokemon Go" official website has more details about the upcoming event and all other events concerning the augmented reality game.
