A number of highly anticipated trailers are being revealed at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show happening at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The event kicked off on Sept. 17 and will end on Sept. 20.
One of the first activities during the four-day video game convention is the PlayStation press conference staged by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was held the day before the TGS 2015 began. The Japan-based video game company unveiled several game trailers that have never been seen before, including a new teaser for the upcoming "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," the latest cinematics for the expansion content of "Bloodborne" titled "Bloodborne: The Old Hunters Expansion," and a gameplay trailer for "Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps."
Several game announcements were also dropped during the press conference.
TechnoBuffalo reported that during the PlayStation press panel, "Yakuza" series creator Toshiro Nagoshi took the stage to reveal that two new "Yakuza" titles are coming for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. According to Nagoshi, a reboot version of PlayStation 2's "Yakuza: Kiwami" will be launched on the seventh- and eighth-generation PlayStation consoles, and it will be released on Jan. 21, 2016 in Japan. However, the series creator did not mention if it will have a Western release as well.
Nagoshi also revealed that "Yakuza 6" is in the works for PlayStation 4. But since the new game is still in its early stages of development, the series creator only mentioned that it could have a fall 2016 release date.
Meanwhile, Gamespot revealed that "King of Fighters XIV" will be released for PlayStation 4. The announcement came from game development studio SNK Playmore with a short reveal trailer, which showed that the new installment of the long-running fighting video game was built using 3D technology to showcase high-quality 3D visuals in the game's legendary gameplay. "King of Fighters XIV" is slated to come out in Japan in January next year, but there was no information given whether it will also be shipped to other countries.
In addition, Sony also revealed that they will be renaming their soon-to-be-released virtual reality headset Project Morpheus to PlayStation VR. The price range of the device is unknown at the moment.
But perhaps the most exciting news dropped during Sony's 2015 Tokyo Game Show press conference is the first-ever price drop for the PlayStation 4 since the console's first release in 2013. According to the announcement, consumers can now purchase a unit of the PlayStation 4 console for only $292 instead of its original price of $334. The price decrease will take effect on Oct. 31.
The Tokyo Game Show 2015 will run until Sunday, Sept. 20.
