PlayStation Neo release date: PlayStation 4 Slim and Neo console to be unveiled at same time in September?

The PlayStation Neo is expected to be unveiled in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show on Sept. 15. However, it might not be the only console that the company is launching there.

According to the latest reports, Sony will also introduce the PlayStation 4 Slim at the event. There's no word on what it will offer, but it is expected to be like Microsoft's Xbox One S.

That being said, the PS4 Slim should be a thinner and smaller version of the existing PS4 with a 4K Ultra-High Definition Blu-ray player in tow.

Sony is skipping the upcoming Gamescom event next month, and this might be because they are going big at the Tokyo Game Show.

In related news, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, the company behind the "Gears of War" video game series and "Paragon," expressed his excitement at the prospect of the PlayStation Neo and Project Scorpio.

In an interview with Eurogamer, he talked about how "thrilled" he is about these upcoming console releases and how they allow gamers to get the "best of both worlds."

"From an industry insider perspective, the console industry will grow and sustain its user base much better if it doesn't have to reset its user base to zero every seven years. The idea of throwing everything out and doing everything from scratch every seven years is completely crazy," Sweeney said.

"And everything Epic's done with our new game development approach, involving these online games we're going to maintain over time, it's about building games where we don't have to reset our user base to zero when we want to add new features," he went on to say.

Sweeny is also thrilled at the prospect of the PlayStation Neo and the Project Scorpio offering 4K resolution support, making for greater visual quality in gaming.

The PlayStation Neo is expected to be unveiled in September. Its complete specs and features should be fully detailed there.
