'Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' news: game features revealed - what to expect

 EA Games

The anticipation for the release of EA's "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" intensifies after new details about the game were unveiled during the Gamescom 2015 event this week.

The game, which is the sequel to 2014's "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare," was first revealed during the game publisher's annual earnings report presentation in May, and there were teasers before the trailer was presented at Microsoft's press event at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 in June.

For Gamescom 2015, EA and game developer PopCap Games introduced some of the game's features that fans of the franchise would definitely enjoy. One of the things that players can look forward to when "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" comes out is the inclusion of a new dynamic hub called the "Backyard Battleground" that players can access as soon as the game begins. The new hub features several vibrant events and various activities to take part in.

The game also allows players to invite up to three other participants into their Backyard Battleground to enjoy its daily quests and finish the challenges set by Dr. Zomboss and Crazy Dave. They can also interact with other "Plants vs Zombies" characters as well as start a battle by crossing over other property lines.

PopCap also confirmed that "Plants vs Zombies" will have solo play due to the high demand from the fans.

In addition, EA revealed that they collaborated with Bioware to tie up the game with its sci-fi third person shooter game "Mass Effect." This resulted to the unique content dubbed as "Grass Effect Z7-Mech" where the melee called Zomni-tool, aside from "interlocking ceramic plate armor with kinetic padding," is added to the game. This can be used to enhance the damage of some of the game's abilities like biotic and tech.

The Grass Effect Z7-Mech can be availed by those who pre-order "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" before its launch sometime in the first half of 2016.
