After the box-office success of the 2012 American musical comedy Pitch Perfect, the Bellas will hit the big screen once again to follow the lives of Beca and Fat Amy during their senior year as students and a cappella choir members at Barden University in Pitch Perfect 2.
According to entertainment reports, the sequel will feature more drama as it shows the journeys of the Bellas as they grow older, with bigger and more exciting performances along the way.
In an interview with Teen Vogue about the film, actor Ben Platt, popular for playing the role of the nerdy Benji Applebaum, divulged several meaty tidbits about what's in store for the fans of the musical comedy sequel.
According to Platt, "Pitch Perfect 2 is about the Bellas and what happens to them as they grow older. All of your favorite characters are coming back but it will even be more exciting with the coming of additional cast members."
The actor added, "Chrissie Fit was great and Hailee Steinfeld is such a pro-she fit right in. I had no idea she was 17! She's the most mature girl ever. I did most of my scene work with her, which was scary because she was the only one I didn't already know, but we had the best time together."
Even Elizabeth Banks, the producers of both films and the director of the sequel, cannot help but gush about the upcoming movie. "All I can say right now is that they will be graduating seniors this time round, rather than incoming freshmen," she said.
The producers of the sequel are hoping that fans will once again enjoy the breath-taking a cappella performances of the cast.
Lead star Anna Kendrick shared how they anted up the performances in the film during her recent interview with People magazine. The actress said, "There is a point in Pitch Perfect 2 when I am at a great height and have to jump, and it was actually totally terrifying for me and took me like 3 takes to take the jump. Even thinking about it right now makes my stomach turn."
Pitch Perfect 2 is expected to be released in the big screen on May 15, 2015.
