'Person of Interest' season 5 premiere: Finch and the group's situation becomes hopeless; episode will be 'very big'

"Things look worse than worst" in "Person of Interest" season 5, according to actor Michael Emerson, who plays Harold Finch in the sci-fi drama, in the first look promo for the return of the series.

In a preview for the fifth and final season of the series, The Machine apologizes for "failing" and continues to malfunction. Finch and John (James Caviezel) race against the clock to reconstruct it before the casualties double and Samaritan completely takes control of everything.

Come "Person of Interest" season 5, Finch and the rest of the group "are living like moles." They show their faces, they get into big trouble. Finch starts to doubt that their secret identities will help them in any way this time.

This is because the evil artificial intelligence Samaritan now has eyes on everything on everyone. If a civilian influenced by it finds them, this "activated" civilian will attack them.

Also in "Person of Interest" season 5, Shaw (Sarah Shahi) will be back with her friends although they won't trust her, as she is brainwashed by the Samaritan.

Teasing the situation of her character, Shahi told MStarNews: "She has no clue to the outside world. She's been under Samaritan's wing the whole time. But that is something we are going to explore in her first episode back."

The actress also promised that Shaw's return will be "pretty big and dynamic" adding that the "Person of Interest" season 5 premiere titled "B.S.O.D" will be "very big" and will be heavy with Shaw and Root.

According to io9, who got the chance to watch the "Person of Interest" season 5 premiere, the season-opener is nothing but "a brilliant hour of television." By the end of it, fans will be clamoring for more.

This won't be a stretch since "Person of Interest" season 5 will now air twice a week – Mondays and Tuesdays. This will make the valediction of the show quicker.

"Person of Interest" season 5 premieres May 3 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
