It has been three years after "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" was released on the big screen, but fans of both the films and Rick Riordan's novels are still waiting for news about the series' third film.

The first film titled "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" was first released in 2013. It received several award nominations, including the Best Performance by a Younger Actor from the 37th Saturn Awards for lead star Logan Lerman and Breakout Female award for Alexandra Daddario from the 2010 Teen Choice Awards.

However, its 2013 sequel, "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," did not receive the same reception, and it garnered a lukewarm response from the critics and the box-office alike. This led to speculations that the film adaptation of the book "Percy Jackson: Titan's Curse" will no longer happen.

But Lerman was positive that a "Percy Jackson 3" is still possible. During an interview with Independent UK, the actor revealed that he signed to appear in all three films under the franchise.

"If we want to make a third one I have to do it, I'm contractually obligated to three movies. I love those movies, they're a lot of fun to make," the actor stated back in 2014.

However, he admitted during that time that he still has to hear anything from 20th Century Fox about the status of the project. "I've never heard anything and it's been a while since the second one was released, so I just haven't heard anything about a third film," the actor stated and added, "Unless they call me I think it's unlikely."

Meanwhile, there have been reports stating that The CW was considering to turn the novels and the film franchise into a TV series. Yet instead of casting Lerman in the lead role, the network is planning to cast a younger actor to portray the role of the demigod Percy Jackson. However, there is no confirmation if the rumor is true.
