"Penny Dreadful" fans need to wait another week to watch the premiere episode of the second season of Showtime's popular horror TV series.
The network originally announced during the Television Critics Association's press tour that season 2 of the spooky British-American TV series will premiere on April 26, but Showtime released an update on Friday that it has been moved back to May 3.
Series creator John Logan launched the first trailer of "Penny Dreadful" season 2 during the press tour, showing what the viewers should expect in the upcoming season. According to Logan, there will be a very significant turn of events in the lives of the main cast in the series.
"Last season, our heroes were hunters," the series creator shared during the press launch. "This season, they're hunted."
When the series returns, Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) will have to deal with his surprising self-discovery after he found out that he is a werewolf. Also, Ethan's and Vanessa's (Eva Green) bond with the rest of the group composed of Sembene (Danny Sapani), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), and Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) will grow deeper in the coming season. This means that the group will be ready to face whatever evil will come their way.
Brona Croft (Billie Piper), who died before the end of season 1 and was reanimated by Dr. Frankenstein, will also return, as well as Dorian Grey (Reeve Carney) and the Creature (Rory Kinnear), who will all face their own personal struggles.
Season 2 will also welcome the return of Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory), one of the biggest threats to the group. The Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle (Simon Russel Beale) will return in the coming season as well.
Legendary actress Patti Lupone will appear in the upcoming season as an important guest character from Vanessa's past. Other guest stars include Douglas Hodge as an investigator from Scotland Yard, as well as Sarah Greene who will portray the role of Poole's daughter Hecate.
